FN Pittroff
Hello ...
I have been researching my Dad's family, his mother was a PITTROFF. I have a family photo that shows it was taken in Munich. Dad told me either his grandfather (Pittroff) or his grandmother (Haberstumpe/f) came from Danzig. I have been working on this for 20+ years.
Would someone PLEASE help me with the name Pittroff? Is it even German? Polish? Russian?
Found something today that said it most likely comes from a "sound variant" where the P sounds like a B, so BITTROFF, or whatever other spelling there may be (Bitrof, Bitroff, Bittroff, Bitrolf, etc :( My grandfather was born in Muenshberg, Federal Republic of Germany in 1861, Marion Benard Pittroff, I have his father (from a marriage certificate) as Thomas Pitroff (note the single T). I need help with Thomas' full name too ... Thomas Benard or Benard Thomas ? Thanks for your help ...
I hope someone has a hint. Some idea.
Wie ist der Nachname in Deutschland verteilt?
